I've started a 914 GT project and like I did with my 911ST project I like to get close to the original cars from the days.......
So I wanted a set of REPA racing harnesses, but wanting and being able to get is a totally different thing right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) I've only been able to find 1 set sold at an auction and a single harness sold at an auction..... I had the same with my ST project and was able to create a couple sets of the racing harness myself. A good friend of mine had an original set, and I started making the hardware required and collecting original webbing etc. and had a couple sets stitched by a professional seatbelt stitching company that could also replicate the Repa stitching pattern and all the labels correctly. Next step now was to create a set for my GT project. The gathering of information and parts for that started a couple years ago, because the GT project was already in my mind for a while. I used a lot of the pictures from the pbase sites from original cars and figured out how they were stitched and what components were used. I had created 2 sets way before this run, just to see if I could get it right.... Now I have done a run of 6 sets, and I have 4 sets of that run available for the community. I put it like this, because this project is not a money maker, there is a lot of cost in the material I use and the work that needs to be done to get it right. When I finished the sets and started to do the calculation on parts and outsourced work, I realized that it was a foolish project and I might not be able to sell them at my cost.... For a set of 2 harnesses it takes: - 8 pieces of Repa webbing $15x8=$120 - 6 chrome adjusters (made from VW buckle inserts re-chromed) $40x6=$240 - 2 chrome repa buckle inserts (re-chromed) $75x2=$150 - 2 repa buckles (zinc coated) a piece $75x2=$150 - 4 repa mounting plates (replica recreation) $10=$40 - 4 repa labels (replica created based on original + stitching) $40x4=$160 - 12 repa webbing stitching $15x12=$180 Total sum of $1040 Selling these sets for $1000 shipped, hoping to get most of my investment back.... I have 2 handed sets (left+right buckle position) and two non handed sets. Pictures of the sets and how I created them here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1YI1...Cx1?usp=sharing Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

What is meant by none handed set? Pretty self explanatory: "I have 2 handed sets (left+right buckle position) and two non handed sets." Meaning both are either right hand or left hand buckles. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smilie_pokal.gif) Proper looking harnesses, GLWTS... having assembled all the hardware to have a pair of these made for my build took time and $$$. Some details are worth the effort! |

QUOTE Thanks for the clarification. Not sure if they would be comfortable though, since they have loose loop and would probably slide left/right to easy.. |

Three of the four sets sold and shipped, fourth set is set aside for 2ndperson that pm-ed me, waiting for a definitive go. I will have a fifth set (non handed) available in a couple days. One of the labels was half an inch to high up the harness, so it is with the stitching company to have that sorted.

All of these sets were sold, I have the 5th set back from the stitcher.
It's a non handed set, pictures here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1dB5...mTyavzceP8rW14i This is the last set I will produce, not enough hardware an pieces of webbing left to do more. This set can go for $950 shipped. As you can see in the pictures, the repa stamp is not visable anymore after chroming the buckle tongue, hence the slightly lower price. +++++++++++ All sets are sold. +++++++++++++ |
