Hello 914 World,
I can finally share some photos of what I was told is a survivor 1976 914 when I bought it. I have been on a 3 year journey with this car that started March 22 .Thanks to all those that assisted me finally being able to post photos @burton73 , @SirAndy to name a couple . It seemed harder than it was and now that I have it figured out it really is quite easy.
I know there have been several posts on this but I wanted to try to share what I learned for Apple products , I still have a lot to learn like posting videos and @Superhawk996 advised I need to post to Youtube first so that will be something for a later date

My problem was 99% of the photos I took were with my (iPhone) and being an old fart I had the camera settings on HEIC (high efficiency image capture ) .

I needed to change the format/sizing as you cannot post an HEIC photo on this site so you need to change to a (jpeg). I thought I would have to retake them all but you don't .

I had already made a 914 world photo file on my desktop (Mac) and only needed air drop photos to desktop and open in my downloads file.

Open the photo you want and it should open in (Preview is an icon on my toolbar)

Now in preview you will see a drop-down menu on the top left , now select export and a small box opens . Move the cursor to resize to 1 MB or smaller and save in the 914 world photos file . I thought I would have to retake them all but you don't .

Here aar a few photos of this car for review. I have hundreds as I took photos of everything I worked on . The frunk & trunk and the day I brought it home.

I kept the battery tray as it would still safely hold the battery and I want to keep the car as original as I can

Question?

How do I get rid of the Newbie title below my name and add info on the car as I see in other posts .

Hi Ron,

Your car looks great. I had a 76 yellow with original. Just to point out something to you. The front valance is the same as what was used on the LE cars and is quite rare to replace. There are fiberglass copies on the market that are very, but you are looking good. I personality like a right-hand mirror and they're very easy to install with instruction here on 914world and might be a nice thing when you're backing your car up so you don't hit anything in your garage.
Welcome to 914 World, So Cal is a great place for a ride and we have lots of great members close by. Hope to catch you in the future.

Thank you Bob,
Yes , for a long time I needed someone to line me up because I was afraid of hitting the wall for a while . I have done it enough times I now have it down and back up with confidence, but a mirror would be nice .That's another item for me to post a WTB in the classifieds . I was wondering if I had the rare front valance , the car has both the performance and appearance group options . I even have the original Fuchs and the spare with its continental tire in the frunk . Thank you for the "posting information" I appreciate it . Questions do you guys ever drive up to Newcombs Ranch ? When I was riding my bicycle up there on the AC 100 (100 mile bike ride through Angeles Crest ) years ago I saw a large group of 914's up there probably in 2015 as it is too dangerous riding up there now . I go up there with my nephew who has a 911 Turbo S , there are a lot of Porsches up there but I've only see 1 or 2 914 since I got the Corvette , can't wait to take my 914 when I get pass my smog test .
Ron914
here's a recent photo from Newcombe Ranch. It gets pretty crowded up there . They usually meet Friday mornings if the weather and roads are good .I Get before 8am to get a parking spot .Sometimes Jay Leno is there .

Take a picture of the wheel well end of the front spoiler and we can tell you if it is an original LE spoiler. 99% chance that it s a reproduction, but you never know. Original ones are valuable. I'd love to have on for my LE, but most don't have the original. You can also see on Jeff's website how to identify the original spoiler. Just follow this link, scroll down a bit and he explains how to identify on original spoiler. The pictures are a bit mislabeled, but you'll figure it out.

Hello ,
Here are a few pictures as requested . I heard that when Porsche decided to kill the 914 line they sourced all the parts from the parts bin to get rid of them when assembling the cars in 75 and some cars received a lot of free upgrades . From what I can tell this car has them all ,front and rear factory sway bars, Fuchs wheels, center console gauges , storage box between the seats ,leather boot on shifter, spoiler and fog lights . it was serial number 1970 of 4070 so they maybe they still had a lot of those left over parts .
The photo of the front is a bit washed out because the sun is shinning brightly on my front end.

Looks like a reproduction, but I can't see the end of the spoiler at the wheel well. Here's what the original would look like in that area, as well as what the brackets should look like. You can always look for a part number on the spoiler. The reproduction won't have one. Credit to Jeff Bowlsby for these pictures as these come from his website. You can always follow the link I sent you for a detailed description of what to look for.

I have already bought a pair of those but it looked difficult so I sort of forgot about it but I do have the parts . I have been waiting to ask for help because I ran into difficulty posting photos .

Life will get better now .

I will create a new post when I get to this job .

I have been buying parts for three years now so there will be a lot of posts coming from me soon asking for help finally .

I see those two holes you probably wanted to see , I don't have them
Ron914
I forgot to add ,I did not go for the smog check today . emerygt350 suggested I make absolutely certain I have everything in order before going . There are a couple of things I need to verify first . After waiting a couple of years for this I want to pass the first time . I will post and update as soon as I get it done .

Ron,

This is a very nice car. But I do have a couple of suggestions.

1. Replace the plastic fuel lines in the car with a stainless steel kit from Tangerine racing. https://tangerineracing.com/shop/ols/produc...-fuel-line-sets The lines are 50 years old, and like all plastic, they have become brittle with age. 30 plus PSI pressure in old brittle plastic lines in a hot engine compartment can lead to a major engine fire. I know. It happened to Betty and I. Your car is too nice for this to happen. We even did this to the factory six we have, and it is being taken to absolutely bone stock, OEM configuration.

2. LED lighting. Replace all the external lighting with LEDs. Not the junk you can buy from FLAPS. Get the spokeworks LED boards. https://www.spokeworksled.com/914-led-solutions They are easily reversible, require no modification to the lights, and make the car way more visible after dark. Then get a set of LED headlight bulbs from 914rubber.com https://914rubber.com/led-headlight-bulb-set. They make seeing where you are going at night much easier.

These items will save your car and make it much more enjoyable to drive.

Hi Clay thank you for checking out my photos . I have long admired your 914 collection ,wish I lived closer so I could check them out . The fuel lines were one of the first things I replaced . Now' the led bulbs sound like a great idea. I drove my car the other morning to a spot where people near me get together to show their cars every Saturday and it was still dark here @5:45am. I noticed driving over there how poor of lighting my car had ,I should have just turned them off and used the street lights.

Ron,

Betty and I have talked about going to the West Coast Ramble. But they keep having it in Northern California, or Oregon, or Washington. Considering LA is a 3 day drive from here, it hasn't happened yet.

I am glad you put in the stainless lines. Y'all have enough fire issues right now. No need to add another in the form of a burning 914. sad.gif

The spokeworks LED light kits can be done in about 2 hours. Even if you have people sitting in lawn chairs ( @betty ) watching, supervising, and telling you how you are doing it wrong. biggrin.gif

You have to have the CIBIE halogen light housings for the headlights to put in the 914Rubber headlight bulbs. There are other vendors on here that offer a complete kit with the housings and the bulbs. I just have experience with the 914Rubber ones.

Hope that helps.

Ron, This is what the LED lights look like in the Headlights and the fogs. I have them in my Frogs as well.

This will give you all the light you need

Very bright , I can see why they should be changed .

I will have to tackle that job later as I just want to be able to drive my car .

Hopefully I will pass my smog test I am going to attempt soon .

Thank You
