I’m offering my 1973 Porsche 914 for sale. It’s an honest, well-sorted enthusiast driver that has been a very fun car to own and drive. The mid-engine balance combined with the upgraded Type 4 motor makes it a lively and engaging car.
Originally Marathon Blue, the car has been repainted during its life and presents well overall as a driver. It is not a concours car. There have been multiple repaints over the years, and there is some overspray/color-change evidence in hidden areas. Panel gaps are not perfect, but overall the car shows well and remains a very usable and appealing 914.
The car is equipped with a 2.1L Werkstatt-built Type 4 engine described by At Speed Motors as having Keith Black pistons, H-beam rods, Torque Street cams, stainless steel heat exchangers, and dual 40mm Weber carburetors. I do not have the original engine build invoice, but I do have written documentation from At Speed Motors outlining those specifications. The engine runs strong and has noticeably more character than a stock 914.
Under a previous owner, the cylinder heads were rebuilt by At Speed Performance following a dropped valve. Documentation from At Speed Porsche Services included with the car reflects service and maintenance performed during my ownership after that work, including installation of a rebuilt Bosch alternator in 2022 along with additional routine service.
Before my purchase, Bob Miller at At Speed noted the car to be solid with no rust in the typical 914 problem areas including the longitudinals and battery tray. The chassis continues to present well with a straight front trunk/spare tire well and clean rear trunk floor and suspension pickup areas.
Since my ownership the car has been garage-kept, maintained on a battery tender, and has not been driven in the rain.
