Hey Gang,
I stumbled upon a pretty tattered 914-6 for sale in my area. It sustained some *serious* damage back in the early 80's (according to the ad). Knowing what I know about welding/painting/etc - this car is beyond my capabilities. Knowing what well done 6s are going for, you may not be upside down at the end if you could do the work yourself. The rear corner seems to be the worst of what you can see. Side note, I wonder what this thing looked like in it's hey day? The 80's were a wild time. According to the ad, the car will also include a donor 914 shell for chassis repair, as well as bumpers and other miscellaneous parts to assist with repair. I have the room and most of the skills necessary... (/me starts thinking...) I mean... I've seen Ben install flares... how hard can this be?! Thanks Ted ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I should have checked there first. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I want to see this car back when it was rolling with those flares filled out and a fresh paint job. If I had the skills, it would be incredibly tempting. |

needs to go on a Cellette bench, pulled straight, then the bent pieces of metal removed and car rebuilt, still on the bench.
It's all doable but not for the faint of heart or wallet. |

It would be incredibly cool to bring this back to it's green 914-6 glory. It ticks all the right boxes for me!! Green. 6. 1970 (I was born the last day of 69, so I can almost say 'it's my birth year...'.)
I need to borrow a cellette bench and some balls. |

It should be saved, but it wont' be a money maker to do right. Being a real 914-6, hopefully it doesn't get picked up and just have a bunch of donor parts/fenders welded on. Already said, needs to be put on a Cellette bench, straightened and fixed correctly.

A guy could retire and start a youtube channel documenting the resurrection video series. I could be the next Ian or Chris... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)
This is the kind of car that you fix and keep, not fix it to sell it. Hey Chris, can we have a party at the RedBarn where we have Ben come out and put a rear corner on it for me? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Then... there is my wife... who would make me sleep in it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) |

Yes, it's tempting ... But I agree with what's already been said: LOTS of serious chassis and metal work, plus the "what else needs help?" Not sure it's worth it, at least at the current asking price. But if you do buy it, let me know. I'd be up for helping... |

The bench doesn't care about your feelings... Attached thumbnail(s) |
