Hi all,
My fuel injector elbow on #1 is leaking, so I’ve decided to replace all four.

Both PMB and 914Rubber are currently out of stock, so I’m debating between:
waiting ~3 weeks and getting the pre-formed elbow hoses from Pelican,
https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/0431...amp;ByPassCat=Y

Or buying straight fuel hose from Sierra Madre (in stock) and cutting/bending them myself
https://sierramadrecollection.com/products/...-76-n-020-281-1

For those who’ve done this before — how difficult is it to form a proper elbow without kinking the hose? Is it worth waiting/paying more for the pre-formed ones, or is DIY perfectly fine and easy to do?

For clamps, I’m planning to use Porsche/Würth Zebra clamps

Unless there’s a better option I should consider.

Appreciate any input — thanks as always.

Wait for the J tube. Use Band clamps, NOT gear clamps.

The factory bent ones do fit nice, I've done it both ways.

Considering the wait, just make your own.

The trick is bending and molding the fuel line on the bench with a heat gun to get a smoot bend in it. Otherwise you will end up with a kink/restriction.

If you're not trying to match existing fuel lines, just go to your flaps and get some high pressure fuel line. Napa and Advanced both have it reels by me.

Years ago, when I had a four, I got the injector hoses from Tangerine racing. They worked great.
(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) Use the correct fuel clamps, not the gear clamps. I see them at my local flaps but Tangerine carries all the fuel system parts as well.

Oh! I just went through this!

I pulled my injectiors for the motor rebuild and had them cleaned / serviced. When they came back they had new straight hoses on them with the proper seals and clamps. I had ordered the 90 degree hoses from one of the suppliers and decided to swap those in. They come pretty long so I trimmed them down to match the originals. What I found was that the bent hoses actually have a spring inside the hose to keep it from collapsing at the bend. What you can do is go to Ace or Minards or whatever and get a small spring that fits perfectly in the ID of the hose.

If you have the time/patience, send the injectors out to be cleaned. Mine looked okay, but I found that two of them were way down on volume, causing those cylinders to run lean, I had no idea. The injectiors came back clean, with all new seals, including a print out showing the before and after performance. I had them back in about 10 days.

Buy 2 foot of Gates fuel injection hose. Cut into 6" pieces. Clamp the ends together with a spring cloths pin and place in boiling water for about 3 minutes.. Let cool, unclamp and trim to fit.

I followed Geezer914's advice and added the spring inside to enxure they didn't collapse. Worked great and a lot cheaper than buying the elbows.
