On the '73 / 1.7 I got a few months ago, a previous owner had installed a start button on the dash. I've never started the car, but did hit the button a couple of times with the key on. It certainly was trying to start the engine, but I stopped for various reasons and never got the engine started before partially dismantling the car to address various things.

Anyway, there seems to be just two wires from the button that have been run straight back to the relay board. They were/are plugged into the 4-pole fuel injection plug area, at the back of the relay board (#IV and #II I believe).

I'd like to understand how that set up is working - can anyone explain ?
