I've been trying to figure out what model this gauge was originally. So far in searching I've seen some close that are out of a 914-6, but have also seen similar marked as 911. Any ideas? I haven't had a chance to pull the gauge to look for a part number yet. I think the sensor for the oil temp is mismatched since it's reading cool.

I am unable to assist with the gauge, but you may consider checking the low temp reading with a known source, IR or similar

That appears to be a 1970-1972 914/6 combo gauge, per P914.com (RIP)
https://web.archive.org/web/20190718110228/...auges_combo.htm If you tilt it back at an extreme angle you may be able to see a part number under the rim/bezel at the top. |

The gauge should have a tiny part number in it.
Seen at an angle Looks like the 6 one which doesn’t have dash bulbs The 4 cylinder combo gauge did have dash lighting |

The one on my -6 has horizontal lines in the two 'boxes'. See if you can get the part number on the upper rim.

Look in 12 o'clock position. It is a 914-6 gauge with later 911 sportmatic temp style gauge.

I am unable to assist with the gauge, but you may consider checking the low temp reading with a known source, IR or similar Thanks for the suggestion. I am planning to check the temp through the oil dipstick tube as a starting point. Good idea should be close enough as reading is from the sump anyway pay to check the "G" wire on the gauge to sender ,most likely you have a duff sender or wrong rating for the same ,cheers |

Had a chance to look at the gauge and find the number. Looks like it's a '70-'26 914-6 one. Now that I know this, I can look to see if the sender is a correct match and the connections are good.
I should have stated from the start that I don't think the car is running hot. I am only attempting to have a more accurate reading at the gauge. |
