Based on the rods being 2liter, this could be 71mm or more if stroked.
Doesn’t look like it’s stroked though as there should be additional material welded on either side of the crank to laterally support the rods.
Clearly welded counterweights.

But to your question; DPR were making them that way (welded) but something tells me they would brand their cranks. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)
