Wanted to start a separate thread from the troubleshooting thread I hijacked the other day. I ordered 3x ignition switches from PMB knowing that quality of these may not be top notch, today they showed up and all three have the center spade crooked, and the plastic housing isn't seated fully. All three identical.
Will they work? Or does this warrant sending back? I hate to make PMB deal with this sort of thing that isn't even their product. URO parts for those curious. |

I don't know of a good aftermarket supplier. I only use Porsche. Even they break at the spring end hole.
There is already a thread about ignition switches |

Well I finally got around to replacing the ignition switch this past weekend. While it technically works, I don't think it was the right part even though they checked for the year I have before shipping. I had to remove the "flange" at the bottom of the replacement and had to bend the crooked male prong. Other than that everything went smoothly.
And now the 914 starts up with no wiggling and jostling the key anymore, so I'll call it a win! |

I got the same switch last year and sat on it till this spring. I ground off all that unnecessary stuff as well. Seems to work fine. Mine was from 914rubber.

That switch is for 75\76. Get the proper one and you won't have to modify it
