As a newcomer to the world of the 914 i will be asking some rookie questions. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
I'm about to remove the 1.7 engine from my car as i intend to install a 6 engine once restored. Is there anything i need to keep from this engine before i offer it for sale .?

Wiring, clutch, flywheel etc.

Thanks in advance

Dave

A reasonably large bank account to start

Dr 914, Auto Atlanta has a booklet describing most of whats required, Pelican also has something

It's a process, but keep the questions coming. We will get you through

Does the 1.7 run?
I might leave it in to debug the chassis.

A Porsche 6 conversion is complicated and expensive.

There are more threads regarding these types of conversion here than anywhere else.

You've come to the right place...

Spend some time going through the threads!

There are many people on here that are far more knowledgeable than I and you have a great start from some of the best. I have done a couple and have a few suggestions.
First is a lot of people have their preferences……motor mounts for example….. You have several choices so do your homework. You also have choices when made early can be easy. There are things people don’t do…..like removal of -4 engine mounts to make it cleaner.
Depending on your use street/track or both you have choices on brakes and cooling that are best made early in your build. It’s a matter of how deep you want to go…….Welcome and good luck with your build.
Just my 2 cents.

I’ve done a few 6 conversions and always glad to help.

I also make engine harnesses for 6’s and 6 conversions, send me a PM and I can help.
