Does anyone have a tested method for removing paint from the fresh air inlet box? Ours had quite a bit of overspray on it. I tried:
* Acetone (had done great on everything else) * Goo-gone * Goof-off graffiti Ultimately made it way worse. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I must have been very embarrassed by the result, as I didn't even take a picture. I'm not sure what this box is made of that is making this so problematic. Thanks. |

I had luck using Brasso.
A bit of scrubbing but didn't hurt the plastic at all. |

use some red rubbing compound and polish it off. The stuff is made for cutting down old oxidized paint.

Closing this out in case it might help someone else.
We also tried lacquer thinner, isopropyl alcohol. Just wasn't helping things. As a couple folks suggested, we ended up painting it. Used this flat black Krylon Fusion all-in-one paint and primer that says it will adhere to plastic. Initial results was a pretty good match. We'll see how well it wears. Thanks for the suggestions. ![]() |
