I'm in an interim housing situation and have to leave my 914 outside for the time being. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)
What is the best waterproof car cover for a 914? |

Mine is outside as well, have no room left in my garages. I’ve had this one on for a year now and it works very well. I’m in Florida so it rains almost everyday. It fits tight and stays on. It’s not shiny like the picture, it’s cloth on the outside and inside with plastic layers in between. No rips or tears yet after a years use and cheap!
It’s on EBAY Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

Thanks for the reply! It's great to get some "field tested" 914 feedback!

I had a part of my paint get “clouded” from a wet cover that stayed wet . It won’t buff out either.

I have no direct experience of these products, but the concept is good:
https://www.getcoverseal.com/collections/car-covers Basically keeps critters and such from getting under the car. Might be worth a look. Ken has a patent on it too! - Tony |

Hot tip is to leave one window down a bit otherwise you end up with a penicillin factory inside your car....ask me how I know . luckily caught it early. |

Ok, in desperation I followed the advice on this forum and picked up one of these car covers. I figured that by doing so the rains would finally subside down here in Texas! Regardless, the LE is now covered and completely waterproof. My old cover, while not leaking, didn't keep the car dry. Kinda like the post-Vietnam Army ponchos. Pretty much worthless!

If the top is completely water proof, would it be good to cover the car first with a few clean bed sheets. when wind moves the cover around it would not be buffeting the paint just the sheets. I am so lucky, my 914-6 GT Tribute lives in a heated/ air condition garage 24/7.

Who ever is selling these as "MotorTrend" has 2 versions. One, with the orange stripes has a light lining and is very water-resistant to waterproof, very good cover. The other has no lining and is very thin, does that sticky thing to the car when it get drenched, still a pretty good cover. See further up in this thread, there is one without the orange stripes.
I have ordered 3 with the re-order button at BigA, got the lined one once and the light weight one 2 times...........kinda like the old vending machines where the drink was marked with a question mark - you knew you would get a soda, but.............
