Nice that you can pull the bumper off to handle repairs like that.
Don't let yourself find too much else "while you're in there", otherwise it'll be on jackstands for months! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif) |

Every fix is an adventure of new problems found!
But that is what makes owning 50 year old cars is all about. If that is fiberglass, I’ve found over the years that the Total Boat polyester resins are super strong and lay out Very nicely. Attached thumbnail(s) ![]() |

I've done almost the identical repairs on my FG front bumper but using West System epoxy products. I've used them for lots of marine projects, so easy to use on 914's
I even added a FG layer on the back side of the door cards as mine were kinda flimsy & did some minor repairs on the back pad also. Rather than vacuum bagging the door cards, I had some scrap Granite counter top bits that are VERY flat to use to insure the door cards didn't warp. ![]() ![]() |

That's a great idea.
My son found some corrosion in a super stupid spot so I had to do my usual DACO repair. Nice thing about a chalon, you can do this kind of stuff and not feel awful about it. It's all about driving this car. Some grinding, some rust transformer/inhibitor, and some random 14gauge I had laying around. The 120v resin core welder is ugly but it gets the job done. Some day I will treat myself to a gas rig... ![]() ![]() |

Such a strange spot for rust to develop, the car is pretty clean otherwise.
