Well, thought I'd wait to let this come up organically, but we're 2 months into the new year and nada, zip, zilch, nothing!

Anyone interested in taking this on? We are willing to help out where we can, but would like to get the ball rolling on this. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Seems like it's been a while since it was in SoCal and I wouldn't want to step on any toes. In case it does work out that a nothern San Fran bay area location is a go, I'm exploring what I think would be some pretty cool "experiences" for the gang.
Give me a couple days and I'll report back.

I’m good with wherever, noting that 914Rubber will support to the extent the organizers want.

Sounds like SoCal may be an option.

I don't know the SCAL area but did the fires make things not a great year for an event in that area? Input from locals would be helpful.

LA area is too congested. San Simeon / Hurst Castle area is nice. Lake Arrowhead/Big Bear is a nice area. And just across IH 10 is Idylwild. There may be other un-congested SoCal areas that offer a great driving experience that I'm not aware of. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

SO Cal Chime in:

When we did it a few years back, we met in Santa Monica and drove toward Malibu, hitting all the hills and twisties. The start part is burned out, and several other areas on the way are a no go... blocked. Now, they will open up eventually, over the course of the next few months, but I would say the majesty of this drive may have to wait another year. The green will come back even if the houses don't.

I know Sir Andy didn't like the mosquitos, but Hurst Castle area had great drives.

Santa Barbara / SLO would be nice.. the 150 through Solvang, lake cachuma etc... some nice areas.

Maybe the gang in San Diego / Temecula can chime in.

Wasn’t the last one in Seattle 2008, Soggy side of nowhere? Maybe it’s time we come this way again. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/poke.gif)

It really depends on who steps up!

It was sounding like it might be bay area?? It takes some co-ordination, and a little planning, but we kind of have a basic footprint we use. As I mentioned, we are happy to assist as much or little as the organizer wants. Typically we have a vote, but if we only have one taker, it makes it a short list.

I'd highly recommend that we resolve this in the next few weeks as hotel prices start creeping up and shirts have to be made, so if you want to step up do it soon!!

To keep things moving along let's just say we should have finalized no later than March 10th.

What are the options?

I'm game and will contribute once we have WCR2025 dates and locations. I have many fires to put out before then, but I'M ON.....wife and I are willing to host a morning, lunch or dinner gathering at our home (92503).
Great food and music. Plenty of room to mingle.

Leveraging a get together at Oscar's we could stay in Idyllwild and do drives to Big Bear, Palomar observatory or something else in the area.

I'll be interning at a machine shop and working on my 914 in Novato (~20 min from Chris) during the summer, starting June 23rd.

Happy to help and lend hands in whatever capacity is needed if we go with the bay any time after that.

Also SOT but found another air cooled at Cal Poly today!

WCR has become a staple for Mary and I and we were wondering when and where this year's might happen.
Depending on dates, we are up for most anyplace.
I have been attending WCR's since 2010 but have only had a running/driving 914 since WCR 2021 in SLO.

Looking forward toWCR2025!

Jim

Not to hijack this thread but there is a planned 914 event happening in Folsom CA, May 16th - 18th.
Erik Schmid and a couple others came up with the idea and are organizing it and I volunteered to help.
It is listed on facebook under the "NorCal 914s" group as "First Annual NorCal 914 Fest: Gold Country Edition."
