Wife told me last weekend she needed a cup holder before she would ride with me again. I got the one below made for a chair but it was perfect for a 914.

Or you can do this -
Go to a pick & pull junkyard and find yourself a suitable cup holder, 90's cars are usually the best. Then procure a spare center console cushion (don't sacrifice your original!). Carve out a cylinder in the cushion for the holder to sit in flush as you can get it. Paint the cup holder to match your interior scheme. The holder I used also has a removable ash tray with a hinged lid that I use as a spare change holder, that just pops out when you want to use the cup holder portion. |

I did the same thing with a pair of ss cup holders purchased from a yachting supplier. I can think of 914 adds with horses and airplanes but cannot recall one with a yacht. Maybe 914s don’t float so well. |

An old cylinder sitting on the passenger floor works well.
There is also a bolt on rennline cup holder you can use |

I bought one of the 911 cup holders that is designed to mount to the seat rail. Here is a picture of it:
Then I took out the 6x1.0 screw in the knee pad below the heater controls, and replaced it with a stud and a long coupler nut. I bolted the cup holder to the coupler nut. That way I could swing it out of the way when not in use, and it was easy to reach from the driver's seat. Even a large Wataburger cup would fit with no problems. But it won't hold a can or bottle because it has no bottom. There are others out there that are similar with bottoms to support cans. After I put in the Cayman shifter, I moved the cupholder to the mount on the front of the shifter. |

Germans could never understand Merica’ and its fascination with cupholders. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

I personally like the idea If you need one for a trip. I like the fixes you guys are coming up with that you just put it on and take it off easily I'm liking it although I'm never going to go for a run that long but, maybe a little water to take pills but then I got to pee.
The ones with the stock astray slot is also a very clever way of doing it as nobody smokes anymore or should I say that very few of our people smoke anymore, sorry Jimmy and JD Best Bob B (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bye1.gif) |
