So kind of at a crossroads right now with the 6. Have just had the pans restored to original configuration and do not want to add holes back to the floor. Want to use the normal seat base arrangement for driver and fixed seat for passenger as per original in 1970. I don't take passengers on the track but may title and street the car on occasion. I don't mind having two sets of seats per se (one street one track) but definitely do not want to add back side mount and drill holes in the floor again.
Any advice from this fine collection of 914 gurus? Attached thumbnail(s) |

Recaro Pole Positions, there's a seat bracket that adapts it to the stock sliders.
If you want them to look vintage then find a set of Scheels or Konigs, also use stock sliders. Those are the plug and play options, but both not cost conscious. You can of course just do the drivers side, also an option, just not sure on the plug and play aspect, lots to choose from on https://www.classiccarseats.com/ (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer3.gif) |

Thanks! Been totally unconscious with wallet wide open for years so why start now! Ha
Pole positions may be a good option provided they come with an fia cert. Was also thinking olde school with a bucket shell on passenger side. Important part is that for race events I have the right equipment. |

Pole positions may be a good option provided they come with an fia cert. Pretty sure they are stickered on the backs with the cert. I've seen the brackets a couple places, I know Patrick Motorsports sells them but I saw them elsewhere recently too, they're pretty simple, but easy. https://patrickmotorsports.com/products/int...=15351791911027 Edit--you can see the FIA sticker on the drivers seat in the first pic |

IIRC the passenger side hinges can be bolted to the fixed seat rear brackets on a 6 ...actually all early cars. The front reclining fixture can be bolted (two holes ? nearly hidden) to the center crossmember. I also respect non-permanent mods. |

How big are you and how much head room do you need with a helmet on? In my 914 race car I ended up with a stock car style aluminum shell seat (with minimal padding). I had mine bolted to the floor but it could be mounted to the stock sliders.

I purchased the PMS brackets but they didn't bolt up to my seats/factory rails. Recaro changed the mount bracket position on newer seats which is what I ran into. PMS is also currently out of stock on his brackets. I ordered a set several months ago to see if I could have a pair made up locally but with the correct mount position. Maybe call PMS and see if they are working on this update? Attached image(s) |

What if did, 550 spyder look. I know all the concerns about the head rest. Not for full race. Best, Mark

6' 190 lbs 33" waist. Seats i have now sat a little high for my taste. Looks like sside mounts that go right to sliders? I had to mount a horizontal bar that mounts to the top of the sliders, then the seat brackets mount to the bar. For the drivers side, I mounted the seat brackets underneath the horz bar, the brackets sit just outside the main hump on the rails. seat rides lower, about an inch. I posted a sketch cross section of how i mounted them a while back, I can’t seem to find it now… I have short legs, but with a long torso, my helmet is about an inch from the felt. In my old car i removed the factory crossbrace, and mounted the same seats to the floor, height and position worked really well for me, but no forward/back adjustability. |

Like for steering wheels (I have 3 types), I plan on having a set of stock seat and I have these Type 14 from Classic Touring Seats. All using stock rails so they will be easy to swap around. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Maybe call PMS and see if they are working on this update? My car is there right now getting the fuel cell bladder replaced, I'll hit them up in person on this and see what's up. If the seats changed slightly then I'd bet they're updating the bracket patterns, they seem to love the Pole Positions and use them in a ton of their builds. |

Love pepita for sure. Would be so.great to.find a vintage looking fia seat. Checking the rules for HSR they state the strongly recommend fia, which to me is needed for them.given some.of the real high dollar exotics that have period seats. 914-6 is not exotic plus I like good safety equipment

Once upon a time. Many years ago….
I put a Corbeau race seat on the stock slider. Found I loss too much head room and had to remove the slider for that reason I’m sure a different seat or angle could be found |

Once upon a time. Many years ago…. I put a Corbeau race seat on the stock slider. Found I loss too much head room and had to remove the slider for that reason I’m sure a different seat or angle could be found I tried a stock seat (with bottom cushion removed), a "cheap" molded plastic race seat, and a fancier race seat. (Sorry for the lack of specifics, this was all many years ago.). But the only way I could get enough clearance between my helmet and the roof was an aluminum shell-style seat bolted to the floor. We had strict inspectors at the time, and it was hard to fake it. BTW, I am 6'2" tall, and at the time weighed about 200 lbs. |
